Focus Firewall

Terms of Use

Last updated 5 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Focus Firewall. By downloading or using the app you agree to them.

Licence

Focus Firewall grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not sell, rent, redistribute, reverse-engineer or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

What the app does — and what it cannot do

Focus Firewall cannot make blocking impossible to bypass, and does not claim to. The app works through Apple's Screen Time system. The owner of an iPhone can always revoke Screen Time access in iOS Settings, and no app is able to prevent that.

Strict Mode makes a rule harder to change while it is running. It is a source of friction, not a lock. When Screen Time access is withdrawn, Focus Firewall detects this and tells you that protection has stopped rather than pretending otherwise.

Similarly, Face ID lock is a privacy screen, not a security boundary. Anyone who knows your device passcode can get past it.

Because iOS delivers scheduling callbacks when the device is in use rather than on a strict clock, blocks and breaks end accurately to about a minute, not to the second. The app uses several layered mechanisms to end a session, but it depends on behaviour of the operating system that is outside our control.

Your responsibility

Focus Firewall is a productivity aid. It is not a medical device and is not a treatment for any condition, including addiction, ADHD or compulsive behaviour. It gives no medical, clinical or psychological advice. If you are concerned about your relationship with technology, please speak to a qualified professional.

You are responsible for which apps you choose to block and when. Do not use the app in a way that would prevent you from reaching emergency services or accessing something you genuinely need. Blocking an app does not affect your ability to place emergency calls, but you should choose your rules with care.

Subscriptions

Focus Firewall is free to use. Focus Firewall Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription offering additional features.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If your subscription lapses, Pro features stop being available, but your existing rules are not deleted and protection is not abruptly withdrawn — a Strict rule falls back to a standard rule and keeps running.

Your data

Focus Firewall stores everything on your device and collects nothing. See the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for your own backups; because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot restore anything you lose by deleting the app or your encrypted export's passphrase.

Availability and changes

The app may be updated, changed or discontinued. Features that depend on Apple frameworks — Screen Time, Apple Intelligence, StoreKit — may change or become unavailable as those frameworks change, and some require particular iOS versions or hardware.

Disclaimer and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Focus Firewall is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will achieve any particular result for you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost productivity, lost income, or any consequence of an app being blocked or failing to be blocked.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country in which you live.
