Focus Firewall

Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 September 2026

Focus Firewall collects nothing. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no tracking. Every rule, session and number the app produces stays on the iPhone that produced it.

This is not a policy written around what we would like to collect later. The app contains no networking code and no third-party SDKs of any kind, so there is no mechanism by which your information could reach us even if we wanted it.

What we collect

Nothing. We operate no servers and hold no database. We cannot identify you, contact you, or see how you use the app.

Specifically, Focus Firewall does not collect, transmit or have access to:

What stays on your device

The app stores your rules, settings, coach prompts and focus history in a private container on your iPhone, shared only between Focus Firewall and its own extensions. This data is never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes all of it permanently.

Your app selections

When you choose apps or categories to block, iOS presents its own picker and returns opaque tokens — not names. Focus Firewall never learns which apps you selected. It can display their icons and names on screen because iOS renders those itself from the token; the app does not receive either value and could not record them.

Screen Time data

The weekly Screen Time report is rendered inside Apple's own sandboxed extension, which by design has no network access and cannot pass data back to the app. Your raw Screen Time information never leaves that sandbox.

Everything shown in Insights is derived from sessions Focus Firewall itself recorded — blocks you started, breaks you took, rules that ran.

Apple Intelligence

Optional coaching features use Apple's Foundation Models, which run on your device. Nothing is sent to Apple or to us. These features are never given your app selection. When Apple Intelligence is unavailable, the app falls back to a fixed written library and says so.

Encrypted backups

The Pro export produces a single file encrypted with AES-GCM, using a key derived from a passphrase only you know. We never hold that key and could not read the file. The backup leaves your device only if you choose a destination in the iOS share sheet — Focus Firewall does not upload it anywhere.

App selections are deliberately excluded from backups, because iOS selection tokens are not guaranteed to resolve on another device or after reinstalling.

Face ID

If you turn on Face ID lock, authentication is performed entirely by iOS. Focus Firewall receives only a success or failure result. It never has access to your face data, fingerprints or passcode.

Subscriptions

Focus Firewall Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details, Apple Account or name. Purchase verification happens on your device using StoreKit.

Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymised sales and subscription reports in App Store Connect. These cannot be linked to an individual person, and we receive no personal data through them. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS on your device. There is no push server, and no notification content passes through us.

Children

Focus Firewall is a self-control tool for the owner of the device. It requests individual Screen Time authorization, not the parental or child variety, and has no capability for remote monitoring, supervision or reporting to another person. It is not directed at children under 13, and since we collect no data, we do not knowingly or unknowingly collect information from children.

Data sharing

We share no data with anyone, because we hold none. There are no advertisers, no analytics providers, no attribution partners and no third-party SDKs in this app.

Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose or erase.

The data on your device is under your control at all times: export it from Settings, or delete all of it by removing the app.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Any change that involved collecting data would require a new app version, which you would have to choose to install.
