Microphone
Tonestep requests microphone access only for the Singing Practice module. Audio from the microphone is processed entirely on your device using pitch detection algorithms. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted. If you deny microphone permission, all other modules continue to work normally.
In-app purchases
Tonestep Pro subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your payment information. Apple's Privacy Policy governs all payment transactions.
Game Center
If you are signed in to Apple Game Center, Tonestep submits your Speed Round scores to Apple's Game Center servers so they can appear on leaderboards. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can opt out by signing out of Game Center in iOS Settings.
Notifications
If you enable daily reminders, Tonestep schedules local notifications on your device. These are not sent through any external server — they are generated entirely on-device by iOS at the time you specify. No personal data leaves your device to deliver them.
Third-party services
Tonestep does not use analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or any other third-party services that collect data. The only external integrations are:
- Apple StoreKit — for in-app purchases
- Apple Game Center — for leaderboards (optional, requires Game Center sign-in)
Children
Tonestep does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, Tonestep is safe for all ages.
Your rights
Because we don't collect your data, there's nothing to request, export, or delete from our servers. To delete all your local practice data, use Settings → Reset All Data inside the app. To export your history as a CSV, use Settings → Export Practice History.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date below. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. We will never introduce data collection without a clear update to this page.
