Keep anything. Find it years later. Nothing leaves your phone.
Last updated: 21 October 2026
The short version: Amber collects nothing. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything you keep stays on your iPhone, and there is nothing for us to see, store, sell, or lose.
Nothing. Amber has no user accounts and operates entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your memories, your searches, your questions, or any personal information.
Every memory you save is stored in a single database inside Amber's private storage on your iPhone. Summaries, tags, and search indexes are all generated and kept on the device. Deleting the app removes this data, and "Forget everything" in the app erases every memory from the device immediately.
A note on backups: as with any iPhone app, if you back up your iPhone (with iCloud Backup or to a computer), that backup may include Amber's data. Backups are created and controlled by you and by Apple through iOS Settings — Amber never uploads anything itself. Erasing memories in Amber does not alter backups you have already made.
Amber works fully offline. It makes a network request only when you explicitly choose to download an optional AI engine in Settings. That request downloads model files and sends none of your memories or personal data. Nothing else in the app communicates over the network.
If you dictate a memory, Amber uses the microphone only while you are actively dictating, and transcribes your speech into text on the device. The audio is not recorded, saved, or sent to any server, including ours or Apple's.
Amber Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Amber never sees or handles your payment details. Apple's handling of purchases is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
There is none. Amber contains no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers of any kind.
Amber does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
